SPRINGFIELD - The Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Western Massachusetts recently presented its annual scholarship awards to students from across the region.
The honorees include eight member scholarship program recipients, two vocational scholarship recipients and six tool acquisition award and educational scholarship recipients.
To have been eligible for the $1,000 member scholarships, students had to be affiliated with a member or the employee of a member company.
The $1,000 and $500 vocational and tool acquisition awards go to students planning to further their careers in the building industry. Students at each of the region’s 14 technical and vocational schools were invited to apply.
Since the inception of these programs, the association has awarded $356,500 to deserving students.
The 16 scholarship recipients include:
Manuel Anstizabal, of Ware, who will attend Springfield Technical Community College;
Ryan Cook, son of Sheryl and George Cook, of Belchertown, who attended Pathfinder Regional Vocational- Technical High School;
Rebecca Giguere, daughter of Lisanne Chap de Laine and Thomas Giguere, of Belchertown, who will attend the University of Vermont;
Kyle Gleason-Scalia, son of Cynthia Gleason, of Chicopee, who attended Chicopee Comprehensive High School;
Melanie Gomes, daughter of Ana and Joao Gomes, of Chicopee, who attends Brandeis University;
Danielle Graziano, daughter of Donna and Chris Graziano, of East Longmeadow, who will attend Pace University;
Jennifer Hansen, daughter of Lynn Hansen of West Springfield, who will attend Springfield Technical Community College;
Julia Kozlik, daughter of Cheryl and Ken Kozlik of Belchertown, who attends Regis College;
Tyler Peters, son of Tammy Stevens, of Montague, who attended Franklin County Technical School;
Antonio Rivera, son of Jose Rivera, who will attend Keene State College;
Robert Rivest, son of Jeremy Rivest, of Westfield, who attended Westfield Vocational Technical High School;
Joanna Schneider, daughter of Kimberly and David Schneider, of Ellington, Conn., who attends Central Connecticut State University;
Alex Silk, son of Linda and John Silk, of Southwick, who attends Worcester Polytechnic Institute;
Ethan Wells, son of Kimberly and Timothy Wells, of Windsor, who will attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute;
Christie Wells, daughter of April and Terry West, of Southampton, who will attend Emerson College;
and Steven Wojtkowski, son of Rose Wojtkowski, of Pittsfield, who attended Taconic High School.
