The Republican’s Newspaper in Education Department is pleased to make the attached resource guide available to our participating teachers in grades 6 and up.
As we approach the 10-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks on 9-11-01, The Republican’s Newspaper in Education Department, in cooperation with the Massachusetts Newspaper in Education Council and Millennial Youth, is pleased to make the attached resources available to participating teachers in grades 6 and up.
Millennial Youth is an independent, youth-run magazine housed at the Times Union newspaper in Albany, NY. Three essays provided by Millennial Youth featuring teens' reflections on 9-11 are attached here:
Millennial Youth - Teens Respond to 9-11.doc
The 12-page supplement attached below includes informational text, newspaper-based activities, and useful links, all designed to explore 9-11 and the admirable qualities that have given America the strength and resolve to handle extreme adversity. The activities contained in the guide are referenced to the Common Core National Standards.
The guide is being provided in cooperation with the Massachusetts Newspaper in Education Council, a statewide collaboration of newspapers dedicated to supporting the use of newspapers in the classroom as a teaching resource.
