EASTHAMPTON - The sixth annual Easthampton High School arts festival will open on May 2 from 4 to 7 p.m. This event, which runs through May 4, is free and open to the public.
This work will be among those in the Easthampton High School arts festival.
Highlighting Easthampton High School's arts, the exhibition displays student work from the studio art and graphic and media arts programs. Easthampton High School teacher Eileen Claveloux spearheaded this event six years ago and presented the idea to framer and gallery owner Jean Pierre Pasche after she received a grant for the project.
"It is really interesting to see the students bring in their art work and show them how framing the work can transform the presentation," says Pasche, of Eastmont Custom Framing.
Pasche works with students to present and exhibit their work by providing custom framing ideas and then teaching framing techniques. He says, "It brings the art into the schools and then exposes it to the community. The idea is that the whole spectrum of being artist is taught from the creation of the art in the classroom to the exhibition and even to the sale of the work."
