Dave Madsen, TV anchor, will emcee benefit for Baystate Health's walk to fight breast cancer.
HOLYOKE –The food will be fit for deities as the fifth annual five-course wine dinner called “Celebrate A Goddess” takes place at the Log Cabin Banquet & Meeting House on Sept. 12.
All proceeds will be donated to the Rays of Hope Walk and Run toward the Cure of Breast Cancer.
“It’s a good, fun night – a wonderful night and a wonderful atmosphere,” said Barb Turcotte, steering committee and entertainment chair for Rays of Hope, which takes place this year on Oct. 20.
“It’s a community effort, a way to support loved ones and celebrate those who have gone through cancer treatment or are going through it.”
Some 500 people are expected to attend the dinner. Cancer affects not just the patient, but family members and friends, “so anything we can do to raise one dollar so someone doesn’t have to lose their loved one is all worth it,” Turcotte said.
Doors for “Celebrate A Goddess” open at 5:30 p.m., and two bagpipers from the Quaboag Highlanders will greet guests.
Hors d’ouerves will be served while guests enjoy the music of Spencer Lavoie, of DJSuspence.
Dave Madsen, anchor for WGGB-Channel 40 news, will be the evening’s emcee as the guests dine and taste the featured "Little Black Dress" wines.
Singer-songwriter Noah Lis will perform during the evening.
First to be served will be domestic and imported cheese, fresh seasonal fruit, vegetables and dip, gourmet crackers and fancy snack mix paired with Little Black Dress Divalicious Pink Pinot.
The first course will feature garlic pesto rolls and scallop and bacon seared with pork belly salad and paired with Little Black Dress Merlot.
Chop Chop Salad Shakers, paired with Little Black Dress Chardonnay, make up the second course, and the third course will offer Statler Chicken Romano with charred asparagus paired with Little Black Dress Pinot Noir.
The fourth course will be a citrus shrimp skewer with quinoa, served family style and paired with Little Black Dress Sauvignon Blanc.
Finally, flourless chocolate cake with fresh berries paired with Little Black Dress Divalicious Red will be served.
In celebration of the fifth year of the dinner event, the price has been rolled back to the original $45 per person. For reservations call the Log Cabin, (413) 535-5077, or go online to logcabin-delaney.com.
