Baystate Medical Center features Amy Dane travel photography

"Favorite Faces from Faraway Places,” a photography exhibit by Longmeadow resident Amy S. Dane, is on view through May 1 at Baystate Medical Center.

The 40 photographs by Dane, an art historian and travel agent, is in the corridor to the MRI wing in the Daly building, and features individuals from 20 different countries.

Dane, who has visited 95 countries, believes that travel builds bridges and promotes tolerance and understanding between diverse cultures. Her favorite subject is people, and she has lecturer on her global travels in various venues, including the Springfield Museums.

The photographer’s awards include “Best in Show,” at the Friends of the Agawam Public Library 2nd Open Juried Photography Show, in 2012, and second place in photography at the Monson Arts Council’s 2013 art show. She was honored in 2013 as one of “13 Extraordinary Women” by the Women’s Philanthropy of the Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts.

Dane, a graduate of Smith College, in Northampton, with a master's degree in art history from Williams College, in Williamstonw, is a docent for the Michele and Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts/ She served as education doordinator at the Mount Holyoke College Art Museum for 11 years.
