April is National Poetry Month and several Pioneer Valley venues are observing it with a number of events.

The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, in Amherst, is celebrating with "Poetry at Play: Family Poetry Jam" on April 27, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The event features area writers Jane Yolen, Richard Michelson, Jeannine Atkins, and Heidi Stemple reading from their own poems, as well as poems by their favorite writers.

The event for poetry lovers of all ages, hosted by poet Steven Withrow, will be followed by a book signing with all the participants, and is free with museum admission.
