Honors earned by local students.
• Laurence Peter Lohman, a freshman majoring in chemical engineering at the University of Rochester, was named to the dean’s list for academic achievement for the spring 2014 semester.
Lohman, a resident of Longmeadow, is the son of John Lohman and Ellen Lohman, and a graduate of Longmeadow High School.
• Ryan Hager, of Springfield, was awarded a bachelor degree in history from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences during the May 16 commencement ceremonies at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Va.
• Area students named to the spring dean’s list at Paul Smith’s College included Benjamin Jacques, of Springfield, who is majoring in fisheries and wildlife sciences and Selina Wilson, also of Springfield, who is majoring in environmental sciences.
• Bard College at Simon’s Rock announced that Sophie Horn-Mellish, of Springfield, earned a place on the dean’s list for the spring semester.
To be eligible for this honor a student must carry 14 or more credits and achieve a grade point average of 3.5.
Horn-Mellish was home schooled before leaving after 10th grade to start college early.
• Area residents who received degrees from Simmons College include: Seneca Martensson, an East Longmeadow resident, bachelor of science in nursing degree from the School of Nursing Health Sciences; Meaghan Consedine, a Longmeadow resident, bachelor of science in nursing degree from the School of Nursing Health Sciences; Kenna Koerner, a Longmeadow resident, bachelor of science in nursing cum laude degree from the School of Nursing Health Sciences; and Melissa Legg, a Longmeadow resident, master of science in library science degree from the Graduate School of Library & Information Science.
• Area students named to the spring dean’s list at the University of Rhode Island included Alessandra Barbara Cerasuolo, of East Longmeadow, Meghan Jamie Kelly, of East Longmeadow, Alexandra Michele Mazza, of East Longmeadow, Gabrielle M. Rate, of East Longmeadow, Karly Jean Marie Turgeon, of East Longmeadow, Taylor Katherine Ollari, of Longmeadow, and Desiree A. Santaniello, of Longmeadow.
