NORTHAMPTON - Northampton Cooperative Bank is accepting applications through April 30 for the Richard C. Aquadro Engineering Scholarship.
Established in 2009, the scholarship honors the longtime chairman of the board of directors of the bank. Scholarship applications are available to Hampshire County residents who are seniors at any public high school in the county and plan to major in engineering at a four-year college or university in September.
This is a four-year scholarship of $2,000 per year, or $8,000 in total, intended to help cover the cost of tuition: the award will be paid directly to the institution attended. The award for subsequent years is contingent upon the student continuing enrollment in an engineering program and maintaining a passing grade point average.
To be considered, students must complete an application including high school transcript, references, and a brief essay. The scholarship will be awarded by a committee that will review applications and decide by vote.
Applications may be accessed online, by contacting vice president Lisa Kmetz, (413) 584-4474, or by visiting any of the bank's four offices, 67 King St., 6 Main St., Florence, 253 Triangle St. or 390 College St., both in Amherst.
Applications must be received by April 30 to be considered.
